Sleeping Rough So Others Don't Have To

Each night in the UK, thousands of people sleep in unsafe and uncertain conditions. The Big Sleep Easy invites individuals and groups to experience a small part of that hardship by sleeping outside in handmade shelters, crafted solely from cardboard, tarps, and cooperation.

By joining the challenge, we are helping raise vital funds for YMCA Bournemouth, whose services include housing and homelessness prevention, mental health support, youth programs, training, and employment - all designed to empower those vulnerable to or experiencing homelessness.

Each participant is also encouraged to set an individual fundraising target. Every pound raised goes directly towards helping YMCA Bournemouth continue its essential work in the community, and a little goes a long way.

Why we get involved with The Big Sleep Easy

With our strong experience in landlord and tenant law, we understand the challenges that can leave people at risk of losing their homes. At Woodstock, we believe that with this understanding comes a responsibility to act. Sponsoring and participating in the Big Sleep Easy is our way of acknowledging that responsibility and contributing to solutions that support vulnerable individuals in our community.

For our team, this event is more than a fundraiser; it’s a chance to engage thoughtfully with an issue connected to our work. From personal challenges to raising awareness and funds for YMCA Bournemouth, we’re proud to lead with compassion and purpose.

A Special Year for the Sleep Easy Movement

This year we're saying goodbye to a familiar part of our story. YMCA Bournemouth’s Community Fundraiser and organiser Sheena Dayman is retiring after years of service, making the 2025 Big Sleep Easy her last. We’re honoured to take part in her final campaign and to help it go out on a high.

The 2025 Big Sleep Easy, also sees YMCA Bournemouth partnering with Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity, to co-host the event and raise funds to support people with disabilities at risk of homelessness.
