About Tariq

Tariq is a senior real estate solicitor with over 25 years' experience in residential and commercial property law, specialising in creative solutions to complex property problems. As a consultant solicitor at Woodstock Legal Services, he advises on high-value transactions, corporate acquisitions, development projects, and property litigation.

His practice encompasses the full spectrum of property work: from residential conveyancing and refinancing to commercial leases, property development, restrictive covenant issues and property-related disputes.

Tariq has acted on share acquisitions involving HMO portfolios, advised on complex title matters and structured loans with security for private finance lenders. Previously a partner at Rhw Solicitors in Guildford and founder of Matrix Legal in Kingston-Upon-Thames, Surrey, Tariq combines deep legal expertise with commercial acumen. He is also an active property investor, trainer, and thought leader, regularly writing and presenting on property law, development strategy, and business management through his platforms TariqMubarak.com and The Tariq Mubarak Show.

Tariq is supported by a dedicated team comprising two Executive Assistants: Nisha and Lena, who manage client liaison, file administration and billing; and Associate Solicitor: Pedro, who brings expertise in corporate, commercial and property law with particular focus on property acquisitions, refinances and asset management. This team structure ensures clients receive responsive, efficient service across all matters. Known for his practical, commercially-focused approach, Tariq has built longstanding relationships with many of his clients over two decades, holding trusted adviser status with developers, investors, corporates and private family offices who value lateral thinking and solutions that work in the real world.

Tariq supports property developers undertaking residential and commercial projects requiring strategic legal structuring and risk mitigation. Property investors acquiring portfolios, HMOs, and investment assets through corporate and direct ownership structures. Private finance lenders structuring and documenting loan agreements secured against real estate. Corporation and SPVs executing share acquisitions of property holding companies. Landowners and developers navigating restrictive covenants, title defects, easement disputes and Land Registry applications. Estate agents, finance brokers and property professionals requiring legal support for complex client transactions. High-net-worth individuals and private family offices with substantial residential and commercial property portfolios. Joint venture partners structuring development agreements and shareholders' arrangements. Clients facing property litigation, including boundary disputes, covenant enforcement and title rectification · Business owners acquiring or disposing of premises for operational or investment purposes

When working with clients, Tariq provides direct, commercially-focused advice that prioritises practical solutions over theoretical legal analysis. Proactive identification of risks and mitigation strategies early in transactions to avoid costly surprises. Clear, jargon-free communication with responsive turnaround times supported by my dedicated team. Strategic thinking that considers the wider commercial context, not just the immediate legal question. Long-term relationship building - many clients have worked with me for over a decade across multiple transactions. Collaborative approach working alongside clients' accountants, brokers, surveyors and other advisers. Flexible engagement models including transactional work, retainer arrangements and ad-hoc consultancy. Transparent fee structures with clear scope definitions and no unnecessary work or billing surprises. Accessible support through my Executive Assistants, Nisha and Lena, ensuring continuity when I'm engaged on other matters. Regular updates on transaction progress without requiring clients to chase for information

Outside of the office, Tariq is married and blessed with three wonderful children and Cora, their rescue dog (named after Lady Grantham of Downton Abbey). He is renowned (at least amongst his kids) for his pancakes and French toast. He invests heavily in his personal development, both mentally and physically, with regular gym sessions forming part of his routine. Tariq enjoys golf and good food, believing that maintaining balance between professional demands and personal wellbeing is essential to providing clients with clear-headed, creative legal solutions.
