About Edward
Edward leads the Corporate and Commercial Department at Canfields Law, with over ten years' experience advising clients ranging from SMEs, sole traders and entrepreneurs through to AIM and FTSE-listed companies on corporate finance and M&A activity. He has held this role since 2010. Edward now also acts as a Consultant Solicitor within Woodstock Legal Services
Alongside his core corporate practice, Edward is expanding the firm's cryptocurrency and blockchain offering, advising clients on matters from launching digital asset investment funds to structuring new coins and tokens for distributed networks.
His commercial practice sits alongside his corporate work, supporting entrepreneurs, finance directors and in-house legal teams on key contracts and partnerships, including:
- IT infrastructure agreements (CRM, CMS, POS, payment processing, hosting, SaaS, PaaS)
- Concessionaire, brand licensing and franchise arrangements
- Distribution, agency, consultancy and management agreements, including large-scale project management agreements
- Brand management, including trademark registration, challenges and co-existence arrangements
Prior to Canfields, Edward spent almost five years as General Counsel at Seed Mentors, coordinating legal, regulatory, accountancy and commercial advisers on SEIS and EIS fund documentation, and leading due diligence on investee companies.
He holds an LLB (Hons) from Oxford Brookes University and completed the Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School with Distinction.
